See just because we live in the greatest country in the world, does not mean that these kids are automatically taken care of and privileged. The reality of the matter is these children are going through things just as much as some in other countries. Some don’t eat enough, some are physically abused, and all of them are neglected. I know children personally who have seen their father murdered in front of them over drug disputes. Children who have played in rooms with needles around. Kids who play in the dirt, aren’t bathed, and have hygiene problems. One of the saddest things to see with some of these kids, are the new born babies born shaking because they are born addicted to drugs.
It’s not a fun subject to think about and truthfully, I pray that even if these kids lives have never impacted yours, that you take the time today to truly think about these kids who are in situations that they can’t control. As a country though, we need to stop ignoring these kids! Want a solution to a drug free world? Raise these kids in love! Want to raise an army of world changers? We must change these kids lives and give them opportunity!
You see after losing both of my parents to drug overdoses, being raised by my aunt an uncle changed my life. Sadly, most of these children do not have an uncle, aunt, or grandparents to change their life. See my whole life changed because someone loved me. Now it’s your turn to love these children!
You may be asking yourself at this point, “how can I do anything to help these kids?” One life lesson I live by ,is no matter where you are at in life, you can make a massive impact in these kids lives! For some, that may be adopting children in foster care. Others may not be able to commit to something like that and may simply want to be come a foster parent. Many, may simply not be able to open their home to these kids. If you are that person, here’s how you can help!
Over a year ago my wife and I started a nonprofit called Make-A-Change Inc. We felt that with the way our life was going (we also became foster parents at 22 years and 19 years old) that we wanted to make a bigger impact in foster children beyond opening our home. Looking back on my life I realized that it was the experiences and education that my aunt and uncle gave me in life as a child that changed my life. These things allowed me to be a child and open my world to what is truly possible in life. This is why we are now making a change in foster kids lives around America. Our mission in life is to impact every foster child in America by providing life changing experiences and education to truly love and guide these children into being the world changers, they were meant to be!
